The Bush Braai is one of the most memorable communal experiences at Hippo Lakes, bringing guests together outdoors for dinner beneath the night sky after an evening drive.
As the sun dips below the horizon, Rangers welcome the group with a Springbokkie, a classic South African shot, with two complimentary drinks included.
Gathered around a traditional South African barbecue prepared over crackling hardwood coals, the atmosphere is shaped by the setting itself. The crackle of the fire, the sounds of bush babies in the trees, and hippos calling nearby create a backdrop unlike any dining experience you have had before.
The Bush Braai gives guests a chance to experience the reserve in a different way, not from a vehicle or a deck, but gathered together around a meal in the open air. It is often one of the moments guests talk about most after returning home.
